The Norwegian and German hip fracture teams have achieved an amazing milestone, in many ways even a world record.
Both teams have now recruited more than 200 hip fracture participants for the ongoing Mobilise-D Clinical Validation Study. Together with the French team, we have now recruited 456 hip fracture patients for our study, an achievement that no team worldwide has ever managed before.
Many experts felt that our ambition might be a mission impossible considering the circumstances of the pandemic and the mean age of this population being 80+ years. Now that we climbed this “Mount Everest”, the journey will continue until the spring of 2024. We are super excited to start investigating the baseline data and learn how to improve treatment and rehabilitation. There are so many stereotypes that are not based on data but opinion only. Within the Mobilise-D project, we want to understand the long-term consequences of a hip fracture and share our learnings with the world.
A huge thank to all assessors and the patients and families for helping us to achieve this milestone.
